History of O'Bannon Bank

 

 

O’Bannon Banking Company was incorporated on November 20, 1905 as a Missouri State Bank with a mission of providing banking services with a personal approach to all of our customers, both business

and individual.  Today, our mission remains unchanged as we continue to provide ‘A Tradition of Personal Service” and a wide range of financial products that are designed for today’s busy lifestyle.

 

On the evening of February 20, 1962 the building that housed the Bank and Post Office was destroyed by fire.  Employees of the bank worked throughout the night and the bank opened for business, on time,

in an old bank building a block away from the building that burned.  On February 22, 1963 the bank opened for business in a new building that was constructed on the site where the previous Bank and

Post office were located.

 

O’Bannon has expanded several times since its beginning in 1905.  In 1977, the Bank opened a drive-in facility at the Junction of Highways 32 and 65 in Buffalo.  In 1983, the Bank opened a second drive-in

facility in the GEM Center near Fair Grove, Missouri.  In 1999, as Buffalo and the surrounding community continued to expand, the Bank opened a full-service facility on South Highway 65 in Buffalo. The

success of the full-service facility on South Highway 65 led to the closing of the drive-in facility at the corner of Highways 32 and 65 in Buffalo.

 

Recognizing the need to expand beyond Dallas County and the city of Buffalo, the Bank opened its third full-service facility in Strafford, Missouri.  That facility opened in December of 2002.  In October of

2003, the Bank opened its fourth full-service facility in Fair Grove, Missouri at which time the GEM Center facility was closed.  In 2010 the bank opened its fifth full-service facility in Pleasant Hope, Missouri.
